Tiffany Haddish has been nominated for a Grammy in the category ‘Best Comedy Album’ for her 2019 special, ‘Tiffany Haddish: Black Mitzvah.’ The actress has been featured in popular films like ‘Night School,’ ‘Like a Boss,’ and ‘Girl’s Trip.’
The Grammy-nominated special opened up with an explosive performance from Haddish and features dancing, singing, and comedic tales of Haddish’s journey to success and of her journey as a Black woman. She also opens up about her Jewish heritage, as well as universal experiences like maturing, while celebrating her successful career as an actress, comedian, and now, screenwriter.
This honor is well-deserved, as Haddish began doing underground stand-ups in 2005. Now, over a decade later, she’s stars in her first major stand-up comedy special. The special received its second nomination today, as it was also nominated for the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Award for a pre-recorded Outstanding Variety Special this year. Haddish continues to carry the torch for Black women in comedy, as she is the only Black woman nominated for the category Best Comedy Album this year.
Haddish was also nominated for a ‘Best Spoken Word’ Grammy in 2019 for “The Last Black Unicorn.”
