Comedian and actor Jason Goliath grace the cover of Kaya FM’s The Afropolitan Magazine alongside his boss, the musical maestro Greg Maloka and songbird and radio host Unathi Nkayi. The funny brother recently joined the station breakfast team alongside Thabiso Sikwane and David O’Sullivan. If you like Jason’s radio commentary comedy and his intake on several issues, you can catch him on the home of the Afropolitan Kaya FM, weekdays Monday -Thursday between 6-9 am.
What was the most exciting news for South Africa from 2019?
Definitely the Springboks winning the Rugby World Cup!
What were other highlights from the past year for our country?
Zozibini Tunzi winning Miss Universe and the Ndlovu Youth Choir making America’s Got Talent.
What can we look forward to in 2020, and in the coming decade in South Africa?
I think the number one thing that we can look forward to is the end of a recession (fingers crossed). If we look back at the past decade, 2010 for me marked the end of the 2008 recession.
Is South Africa ready for a comedian president?
I don’t think that South Africa is ready for a comedian president because the foundation of comedy is truth and I don’t think South Africa is quite ready for the truth just yet.

If you could have dinner with any past or present personality, who would it be and why?
Dave Chappelle. He is my comedy mentor and I love his relationship with comedy – it’s pure and almost effortless. He makes it feel like money is just a by-product, not the objective.
If you could have only one vinyl, which would it be?
Anything from Michael Jackson or Bill Withers.
What is one of the most memorable moments you’ve had on air with a caller?
I don’t have a specific memorable moment with a caller but my favourite moments are when David O’Sullivan talks to politicians and CEOs. The way he cuts through the clutter, propaganda and ‘cut and paste’ answers with the main objective of sharing the truth with Afropolitans.
