It was a David and Goliath clash last night (Thursday 8 September) as South Africa’s comedian Dave Levinsohn come out victorious in the latest edition of the Comedy Central Roast Battle. Armed with deadly insults, barbed one-liners and wicked wisecracks, Levinsohn engaged in an unarmed combat with fellow comedians Nicholas Goliath, Lazola Gola, Neil Green, Vittorio Leonardi and Yaaseen Barnes.
A victorious Levinsohn lifted the winner’s trophy after a tense comedy battle with Lazola Gola. He now joins an impressive list of previous Roast Battle winners including Richlieu Beaunoir, Dillon Oliphant and Schalk Bezuidenhout in the hotly anticipated Roast Battle grand final later in 2016.
Comedy Central’s Roast Battle was recorded in front of a live audience at Parker’s Comedy & Jive, Montecasino, Johannesburg and will premiere on Comedy Central (DStv Channel 122) later in the year.
The comedy combatants battled it out before competing in a three-way “Roast-off” in front of MC and Radio Presenter Ayanda MVP and media personality Khaya Dlanga, who was this month’s celebrity judge.
