South Africa’s “First Lady of Comedy”, Tumi Morake, has taken to social media to announce the news that she is now under new management.
“With growth comes reinvention and new ventures! I’m excited to be a part of the Blu Blood family,” says Tumi.
The comedienne has signed on with talent and event management company, Blu Blood, who will take on the exclusive management of her career. “We are so pleased to welcome Tumi to the family. We have her best interests at heart and we are excited for what the future holds for her,” says Blu Blood’s CEO, Shaaista Osman.
With a career spanning over 10 years and with numerous nominations and awards under her belt, Tumi Morake continues to be a formidable force in the industry – a fact proven by her most recent win of Best Comedian at the 2016 YOU Spectacular Awards.
Since beginning her comedy career in smoky clubs in 2006, she has steadily grown into one of SA’s most sought after comedians.
Tumi has managed to keep a firm footing as one of a handful of successful female comedians on the corporate and commercial scene. Her edgy and unpredictable brand of comedy has wowed audiences around the globe. She has shared the stage with the likes of David Kau, Marc Lottering, Barry Hilton and Chris Forrest and has earned her place as headliner in comedy festivals such as the Kings & Queens of Comedy.
She’s bold, she’s sassy and you simply cannot ignore her! Some highlights of her career include being the first woman to host Comedy Central presents on African soil and ticking off a bucket list item – taking her one-woman show to the famed Edinburgh Festival in Scotland in 2013.
Tumi Morake is a “jane-of-all-trades”. Beyond her comedy, Morake has been the face of major campaigns with Vodacom and Kelloggs. As a producer, her work has been nominated in various categories at the South African Film and Television Awards, which she also hosted in 2013 and 2014. She also hosted the prestigious SAMA Awards (Night 1) in 2012 and 2013.
