The first lady of South African comedy, Tumi Morake comes a long way to be where she is today. It’s no brainer to see her as the only female being nominated for Edgars Comic of the year category in this year’s Comic Choice Awards. The queen of SA comedy is being nominated alongside kings of comedy such as Mashabela Galane, Skhumba Hlophe, Carvin H Goldstone and Loyiso Gola.
Recently she’s been signed to a new management company Blu Blood Management. Tumi Morake is a “jane-of-all-trades”. Beyond her comedy, Morake has been the face of major campaigns with Vodacom and Kelloggs.
As a producer, her work has been nominated in various categories at the South African Film and Television Awards, which she also hosted in 2013 and 2014. She also hosted the prestigious SAMA Awards (Night 1) in 2012 and 2013.
>It’s fair to say Tumi Morake has big apples as Savanna Cider, the headline sponsor of the Comics Choice Awards.
