“In just four years we have managed to fulfill a few of our own dreams and over the next few years we hope to help others in the comedy industry fulfill theirs,” says Goliath and Goliath manager and Roast Café and Goliath Comedy Club stakeholder Kate Goliath. “It’s a scary thought throwing everything you’ve got at a comedy club. It’s exciting though. I’m so fortunate to be part of a strong, hardworking and dedicated team. I want people to love being there and just really feel like they’re part of the family,”says Donavan Goliath, the group’s creative director.
Creating a hub and home for comedy in South Africa is the goal for the Goliath and Goliath team. “We don’t want to restrict it to ‘pure’ stand up as we know it, but explore creativity as Africans and South Africans. Our number one objective was to build a stage where every comedian in the world would love to play. Helping us attract international artists and also giving local artists an international quality stage,” says Goliath Comedy Club stakeholder Jason Goliath.
“By focusing on growth and development of local acts, we aim to bring our audience a premium comedy experience,” says Nicholas Goliath, Goliath Comedy Club stakeholder and active comedian of the Goliath and Goliath team.
“Goliath and Goliath are old friends of Comedy Central and we’re thrilled to support them in this exciting new venture. The launch of this fun dual-concept venue will be a massive shot in the arm to the local comedy scene,” commented Evert van der Veer, Vice President, Comedy Central Africa.
