SA comedy industry has grown exponentially in 2019, as we saw several comedians working with big brands on various social media campaigns, while some comics appeared of different television commercials. This is a good sign that this industry of ours is heading somewhere with hope and believe that everyone will be able to benefit. Its a far cry for SA comedy to be where it is today, looking back in the days or previous years it was hard for big brands to open up and work with comics, the reason was that the comedians come across being risky for their brands. Yes, to some degree comics they do come across risky but at the end of the day…. who doesn’t want a good laugh? We all do because life can be tough at times, so its ok to laugh it off the stress and feel good now and again. I do agree that our comedy industry still has a long way to go however I’m hopeful that the growth we saw last year can continue further in 2020.
