aucony loves a good food-inspired sneaker. A year ago, the brand made waves by dropping a Dunkin’, née Donuts, sneaker in preparation for the Boston Marathon because running and also because Massachusetts. This year? This year, the brand went above and beyond with a pair of avocado toast sneakers. Avocado. And toast. On a sneaker. Beautiful.Saucony Shadow 6000 “Avocado Toast”.
The sneaker itself is Saucony’s signature Shadow 6000 silhouette, which has a thick, lugged outsole for great traction and a suede and nubuck upper. The shoe is known for its durability—it’s a heavier style than lightweight picks that have been popular as of late, but that weight also makes it more adept at handling hard wears over a longer period of time. Plus, unlike real avocado toast, these shoes won’t prevent you from buying a home (probably).
As for the avocado detailing, the brand went in. The textured suede upper is the avocado; the brown leather is the toast; and the red specks in the lining are red pepper flakes. Also, it says “Saucamole” across the heel because of course it does. If you’re about to wear a sneaker covered in avocado, this is not the time to be bashful.
The sneaker retails for $130, but it’s already sold out on Saucony’s website. Not to fret: The secondary market has already picked up the toast Saucony put down, and you can bid for a pair instead. Head over to StockX to secure a pair of your own.
Here’s to avocados. May we eat them, may we wear them, and may they always be extra.
