Nike SB has been tapping into the creative stylings of bars from across the United States that have an important role in their particular city’s skate communities. In August, we saw this done to the SB Blazer Low in conjunction with Portland, Oregon’s Cat’s Paw Saloon – an eclectic bar owned by pro skater, Micky Reyes. Now, the Swoosh is set to continue this series with a little help from Black bar of both Long Beach and Hollywood, California and artist Nastyneckface.
A city rich with skate culture, this extreme sports haven was a perfect candidate to receive its very own Nike SB Dunk High collaboration due to its influence on skate culture and the community as a whole. Unsurprisingly done up primarily in black, its key details come by way of embroidered heel branding, striking geometric patterns inside its midfoot Swoosh and insoles, and the phrase “Always Bet on Black” underneath Nike SB on its tongue – a cheeky nod to both the watering hole’s regulars and the cult classic Wesley Snipes film, Passenger 57. Grab an official look at Black’s take on the Dunk High below and mark your calendars for its October 27th release as select skate shops around the country.
