One of the most popular sentences in the world is “the truth shall set you free” but in reality it’s proven to be one of the world’s biggest lies. Example: You want a job, you draft your CV, on your CV you list ‘Team Player’ as one of your special skills. But in real life you used to be the quiet one when it came to group projects in school.
In real life you started doing events with your friends and called yourselves an events company, which was unregistered but had an Instagram and Facebook page, but that eventually stopped happening because everyone wanted the credit and you accused each other of arrogance and somebody either stole money or didn’t chip in and now the ones who chipped in are starting to have a secret group within the group. You are not a team player, you’re a big headed self renowned creative. But you can’t write that on your CV. So you lie… Or better, you say something that sounds good enough to sell you to whoever willing to buy.
The lies shall set you free. Why? If you ask a girl out and she turns you down and tells it’s because you’re fat and broke, not only is it an offensive fact but it can hold her hostage to your hate. And when men hold women hostage with hate, you get uncomfortable news headlines. But if the girl says she has a boyfriend or she’s a lesbian, you will not hate her (considering you’re not an entitled bustard) instead you will keep your confidence and remember that there are plenty women out there who have a fat and broke fetish. Remember the last time you lied, you did it for “the right reasons”.
Example: The day I met my girlfriend for the first time we were at Joburg City Library. During our conversation the question of “so what do you do for a living?” surfaced, this is the perfect example because I was unemployed, fat and broke. But I can’t just tell this stunning girl I just met that my bank account is as empty as a the Versace store.
No. I did what every smart man would do in this situation, I lied. I told her that I’m currently — and please remember the importance of the word CURRENTLY whenever you lie about your hustle — running an events company and I also produce music for a lot of artists. This was a safe lie because I did make beats for myself so i can back it up. As far as the events thing is concerned please refer to the first paragraph.
People lie to get what they want, the problem is when they get what they want. Advertisers lie to sell a product. Rappers lie to sell an image. Politicians lie to get votes. Influencers lie to get likes. Pastors lie to get money, or is it fame? You’ll never know these days… But lying sometimes gets the job done. Most times in fact. Entlek, all the time. According to my most recent Instagram post, I have a car. Go figure.
