SABC2’s 7de Laan and other production houses have finally received the green light to start shooting again. Although many actors are concerned about their safety, some couldn’t be more delighted to have their jobs back. Danie Odendaal Productions says it has put measures in place to ensure its actors are safe.
Speaking to Move!, 7de Laan actress Mimi Mahlasela says she has kept her cool during these uncertain times. “I have tried my best to stay calm and not panic. I was mainly worried about the health of the elderly people in my family such as my mom and aunts.”
For the lockdown, Mimi has been home in Alexandra with her mom, older brother, niece and nephew, where she had time to bond with her family away from the long working hours.
“I considered it family time. I played a lot of games with my nephews, teaching them indigenous games that I used to play as a child, games like Umgusha, Bathi and Diketo. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I got to spend with my family,” she says.
“The lockdown gave me time to learn a lot of lines and go through scripts. The production also kept us abreast and informed of all developments so we were prepared to return and knew exactly what to expect.”
