Comedian and television presenter, Kagiso Lediga is best known for creating, writing, producing and starring in the SABC1 sketch comedy series Pure Monate Show, from 2003 to 2004. Born in Pretoria, Lediga quit studied English and Drama at the University of Cape Town. It was whilst studying at UCT when he had his first taste of stand-up comedy, performing during Orientation Week in 1995.
Phemelo Motene sat down with Loyiso on the Weekend Breakfast to tell us about his life and recent projects.
Lediga has created Netflix’s first original African series called ‘Queen Sono’ — a drama series set in the world of espionage with an added zest of humour. South African actress Pearl Thusi will star in the drama series, she plays a highly trained top spy in a South African agency who must tackle dangerous cases and also face changing relationships in her personal life.
Speaking to Phemelo on the Weekend Breakfast, Lediga said, he is excited that he will be working with Netflix and that he will be will be working with people he has worked with for a long time.
