The Daily Show host Trevor Noah has hit the nail on the head.
Roger Stone’s arrest has revealed an obvious racial double standard in the United States, the comedian notes.
His commentary follows complaints from Stone and his allies that he had been “terrorised” by the FBI when they took him into custody on Friday.
Stone is a former adviser to U.S President Donald Trump.
Trump’s response to Stone’s arrest contradicts the president’s previously shared opinions on harsh policing, Noah asserts.
“You have Trump and his people lambasting the police for what they did and it’s interesting to me how for how long have black people been saying police in America are extreme.
“Every time black people say it, what do they say on Fox? What do they say on the right? ‘Oh well that’s the law. Blue lives matter. You have to respect the police. They’re doing their jobs’,” Noah explains.
“But look at what the police do to young black kids! And then they’ll be like ‘but you know how was the police supposed to know’,” he adds.
“These guys are genuinely shocked when the police use the same force on them that they’ve been using on so many other people in the country unchecked,” says Noah. “Police are militarised in America in a way they aren’t in most developed nations.”
