He says performing on international stages helps South African stories reach a broader audience. Gola made his US TV debut on late night show 50 Central, which will air in March next year. He currently holds UK and US work permits and says performing abroad helps him to gauge the level of his work. Gola explains that he hardly adjusts the content of his routines to suit international audiences. The comedian is best known as the host, co-producer and writer of Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola.
His new stand-up show, Unlearning, challenges the many problematic social norms that he’s been taught over his 34 years of life. Unlearning will be on in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town between 21 November and 16 December.
