Comedian Loyiso Gola has had a go at President Jacob Zuma, saying that he only looks after his own interests.
Loyiso is not one to hold his tongue when it comes to the country’s affairs and took to Twitter recently to publicly criticise the president – amidst reports of the Hawks conducting an investigation into Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and allegations of state-capture by President Zuma.
“Zuma doesn’t think of other people… he only thinks of himself. Go away, man,” Loyiso tweeted to his followers in Xhosa.
Loyiso recently faced a Twitter storm with his remarks about Caster Semenya. “Some of you took a break from witchcrafting to watch Caster. She really did unite the nation. Fly safely back to Limpopo,” he wrote.
His latest remarks again raised eyebrows, with some fans suggesting that he should be careful with his tweets because of his celebrity status.
He responded to these concerns by pointing out that he has always been outspoken about the president- and actually doesn’t “give a f*ck”.
Radio host Gareth Cliff made headlines last week when he launched an angry assault on President Zuma on his CliffCentral radio show, accusing him of trying to “escape with as much money as he can from state enterprises”. He also said that he believes that the pressure around the president could result in him wanting to “retire in some Arab country”.
